At Legacy Construction and Building Services, our mission is simple: to build high-quality, energy-efficient homes that working families and retirees can afford, without sacrificing durability, comfort, or style.
We believe every family deserves a safe, lasting place to call home. That's why we rely on proven building systems like Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), superior precast foundations, and truss-based floor and roof systems—all designed to deliver excellent performance while keeping costs down.
We live and build right here in Western North Carolina. We're proud to support local trades, use regionally sourced materials whenever possible, and give back through local housing initiatives and nonprofit partnerships.

Our Story
This story comes from our founder and general contractor, Steve Gaito:
“On September 2, 2024, Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, leaving devastation in its wake. While our family farm was spared the worst, the destruction around us led to a pivotal conversation on the front porch. As I sat with my two sons, we talked about how someone needed to step up and help our community rebuild—smarter, faster, and more affordably. They looked at me and said, ‘Why not you?’”
That conversation planted the seed for Legacy Construction and Building Services.
With a lifetime of experience as a Certified Financial Planner™ and the encouragement of his family, Steve earned his general contractor license and set out to do things differently. Traditional stick-built homes were often slow, expensive, and labor-intensive, putting quality housing out of reach for too many. He knew there had to be a better way.
Legacy Construction was born from a simple but powerful idea: to give people a home they can be proud of, without overextending their budget. With deep roots in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a passion for practical, elegant design, Steve and the Legacy team are committed to building energy-efficient, storm-resilient homes that stand the test of time.

Steven brings a rare and valuable blend of financial insights and hands-on construction experience to every project. As a Certified Financial Planner™ turned licensed general contractor, he understands the emotional and financial significance of building a home. After decades of helping families plan for retirement and manage their life savings, Steven saw a growing need in Western North Carolina for affordable, high-performance housing—homes that are not only well-built and energy-efficient but also financially sustainable.
Motivated by personal experience and a deep commitment to community, Steven founded Legacy Construction and Building Services to be part of the solution. His approach combines practical, proven building methods with smart financial planning principles. The result? Homes that are beautiful, functional, and built to last, without breaking the bank.
Through legacy, Steven helps families make one of the most important investments of their lives: not just in a house, but in a future.
